Communications Strategy

Background

The Board has confirmed that negotiations to buy the site for the region’s main hospital are now complete. Farmland at the Garroch roundabout, off the Dumfries by-pass, has been selected following extensive public consultations for the new facility. It is anticipated that the new hospital will cost in the region of £200 million.

The project is now progressing well towards the development of a business case.

Designs for the exciting new facility – which will replace the existing building on Bankend Road - have also been revealed.

A circular theme has been chosen for the layout of the new hospital at Garroch Loaning, with a rectangular main building at the centre and ward blocks emerging like spokes.
