Who We Are

The Community Mental Health Nursing Team is a specialist team of nurses and healthcare support workers who have in-depth training, experience and understanding of mental health difficulties.

The service is for adults age 18 + who have mental health problems.

How You Can Get in Touch

Should you require referral to our service, please discuss this with your GP, who can refer on to our service in the first instance.

The community mental health nursing teams operate Monday to Friday 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

There are a number of community mental health nursing teams across Dumfries and Galloway:

Stewartry CMHNT
Dumfries and the Nithsdale CMHNT
Wigtownshire CMHNT
Annandale and Eskdale CMHNT

What We Do

  • Assess, treat and monitor mental ill health
  • Offer a variety of therapeutic interventions to help people overcome their difficulties
  • Promote good health
  • Refer for hospital admission if required

We also work closely with other professionals, including:

  • Occupational therapy
  • Crisis Assessment Team (CATS)
  • Psychology
  • Dementia Link Worker
  • Social Work
  • IDEAS team
  • Eating disorder team
  • Specialist drug and alcohol team
  • Third sector agencies
