UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Accreditation

NHSDumfries and Galloway currently has full UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative Accreditation for both maternity services and health visiting.  As part of this initiative NHS Dumfries and Galloway has Infant Feeding Policies in place for maternity services, health visiting and the neonatal unit.  For general information relating to infant feeding please ask any of the midwives or health visitors.  Your midwife will provide you with a copy of Off to a Good Start and the From Bump to Breastfeeding DVD

Dumfries and Galloway Breastfeeding Peer Support Project

We want to help mums have a good experience of breastfeeding so that everyone can enjoy the benefits.
The Breastfeeding Peer Support Service gives you the chance to find out all about breastfeeding from the real experts - other ordinary mums. Breastfeeding Peer Support volunteer helpers have a wide range of experience between them and have received additional training to enable them to provide appropriate support to other mothers.  You can speak to a volunteer at anytime, during pregnancy or at any stage after your baby has arrived.
