Some Minor Injuries Units may require you to make an appointment,  to do this contact NHS24 on 111 who will advise.

If you require urgent care for a minor injury, you should initially contact NHS24 and attend your local Minor Injury Unit. If your injury happened a few days ago, or if it’s an old injury that has got worse again, please turn to your GP for advice.

Most Minor Injury Units are open 24 hours a day. You can be treated for a range of ailments including sprains and burns. 

Children aged 12 years and under must attend the Accident & Emergency Department in Dumfries or Stranraer.

There are Minor Injury Units based within the following hospitals;

Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary
(Within A&E Department) Bankend Road, Dumfries, DG1 4AP
Open 24 hours seven days a week

Galloway Community Hospital
Dalrymple Street, Stranraer, DG9 7DQ
Open 24 hours seven days a week

Castle Douglas Hospital
Academy Street, Castle Douglas, DG7 1EE
Open 24 hours seven days a week

Kirkcudbright Hospital
Barrhill Road, Townend, Kirkcudbright, DG6 4BE
0800 - 2100 seven days a week.
Monday to Friday between 0800 and 1830 all ages can be seen.
Minor injury clinic is nurse-led from 1830-2130 Monday - Friday, Weekends and Bank Holidays and during this time, children 12 years and under will not be seen.
