Occupational Therapists work with people of all ages to help them overcome the effects of disability caused by physical or psychological illness, accident or ageing, and enable them to lead full and satisfying lives as independently as possible.
The assessment and treatment process aims to use purposeful activity to cope and adjust to everyday living and to be as independent as possible.
Occupational Therapists in health work closely with Occupational Therapists in Social Services regarding the provision of assistive equipment that you might need at home to support independence and safety.
Further information about the profession nationally can be found on www.cot.org.uk
All Occupational Therapists are registered a regulatory body called the Health Care Professionals Council and further information regarding this can be found on www.hpc-uk.org
If you have a piece of equipment at home that you no longer need you can contact the Integrated Equipment Store and arrange to have it uplifted – 01387 244406
