Welcome to DG Health and Wellbeing
DG Health and Wellbeing (formally known as the Joint Health and Wellbeing Unit) is a joint unit between NHS Dumfries & Galloway and Dumfries and Galloway Council. The main purpose is to commission actions to improve health and reduce health inequalities.
Dumfries and Galloway Health and Wellbeing (DGHW) established in June 2011 with staff from Dumfries and Galloway Council and NHS Dumfries and Galloway. The team published an Action Plan in December 2011 and the work draws on all the key national and local frameworks, policies and strategies which focuses on health improvement and reducing health inequalities, for example Equally Well Implementation Plan, Towards a Mentally Flourishing Scotland, The Early Years Framework and Getting it Right for Every Child.

The team has two sections: Children and Young People and Adults and Older People. All work is delivered through partnership working within and outwith NHS Dumfries and Galloway and Dumfries and Galloway Council.
The DGHW Team works in partnership with a range of NHS, Dumfries and Galloway Council, 3rd and Independent Sector colleagues to improve health and wellbeing. There are four Public Health Practitioners leading on the health improvement agenda and leading health improvement teams based in the localities of Annandale and Eskdale, Nithsdale, Stewartry and Wigtownshire.
