calendar and news

The Community Garden project which is well underway at Galloway and Newton stewart Hospitals has been called "Grounds4BetterHealth" and a Committee set up involving Statutory Bodies/Organisations and Third sector Agencies to take the initiative forward jointly at both sites.

The sites are being developed and it is hoped soon to have them fully operational growing vegetables and flowers. The Gardens will be used by a variety of members of the community as a means of exercise, socialising, health improvement and therapy as well as for learning and developing gardening skills. The focus will not be on any one special group or organisation and membership and use will be variable to include people suffering from addiction, mental and physical health problems as well as the general public, patients and staff just enjoying the socialising aspects which gardens introduce to a community.
